On November 26, 1949, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the President of the Constituent Assembly, moved the motion:
“The Constitution as settled by the Constituent Assembly be passed.”
This historic date, enshrined in the Preamble, serves as a guiding light for our nation, symbolizing the collective will of the people to build a just and inclusive society.
The Indian Constitution, the longest written constitution in the world, has withstood the test of time. It not only grants rights to its citizens but also directs them toward their duties.
For policymakers and administrators, the Constitution has been a guiding framework, with the Preamble serving as its soul.
Over the past 75 years, it has empowered us to demand our rights from the state and reinforced our commitment to democracy and justice.
Today, we also pause to honor the heroes who lost their lives in the 26/11 terrorist attack. The nation remembers their bravery, their stories, and the loss we all endured together.
I take immense pride in the fact that, as “We the People,” we upheld the values of our Constitution even in the face of adversity. Despite the misery and pain caused by the attacks, we ensured that the accused received a fair trial. The apex court followed due process, and we stood firm in our commitment to justice, proving that the values of our Constitution live within us.
Today, as we remember and celebrate these values, let us reflect on the strength, resilience, and vision of our nation.
